I didn't grow up in the south, and I can imagine that Cracker Barrel isn't a good representation of what it's like - but for the novelty and the price, I always enjoy it. I can't usually count on two hands the amount of suspenders and flannel shirts that frequent this location. The food is good and the portions are big. If you don't appreciate the chicken'n dumplings, I don't know what to tell you. My personal favorite is the fried chicken special that they feature on Sunday with some green beans, dumplings, and broccoli. Ask for some hot sauce while you're at it and skip the gravy. I usually head over to the store when paying for my check and grab a Goo Goo Cluster or a Valomilk.

I've never had a poor experience at a Cracker Barrel - as long as it's for breakfast. Breakfast here is affordable, home cooked and there's enough on the menu to ensure there's something for everyone in your party - even the picky folks. At this particular location you'll find what is served at every location: quality service, affordability and decent portions. When faced with a choice between here and competitors (IHOP, Denny's, Shoney's, Bob Evans, etc) this is the obvious go-to choice. For breakfast the item list is long, but I gravitate to the Maine blueberry pancakes or the pecan pancakes. They're above average. Otherwise, your typical breakfast items are available. Come here solo or with a large group and leave happy. That's something you can always expect from this place - as long it's you're here for breakfast. Lunch/dinner is a different story.

Awesome staff, they know you by name from the hostesses to the servers and management. The food comes out quick and the portions are large compared to most places for the money. Stop by and check it out

You know what your getting with this place. I definitely think breakfast food is the best menu. I recommend the chicken fried steak. Would go early if you are going on a weekend as they usually have a long wait.

I was on a road trip - it was there. Folks are nice, but the place is eerie like you walked onto the set of Petticoat Junction or something. I get freaked out that they are all the same. How can you 100% replicate the arrangement of fantastic amounts of crap the way the Cracker Barrel does in 1000s of locations? I guess the corporate office are fascists and I have heard other things about that too. Bonus - free black-eyed peas on New Year's Day. Good cheap and filling meal - beans and greens, ask for hot sauce.

WOW. Just wow! Cracker Barrel is pretty amazing! I've never had anything like it before. We passed by here on a Sunday evening on our trip back to Cleveland, and there was a 20 minute wait. After putting our name down for the hostess, we explored the shop area. There are various odds and ends at this store, most of them centering around southern/country themed objects. We found chocolate bars with bacon and potato chips, jars of jam, and many trinkets with farm animals. There is also a huge candy section towards the back! After getting seated, we ordered a refreshing strawberry iced tea. Best part? It's bottomless! So drink away! I ordered the roast beef dinner with three sides: fried apples, dumplins, and baked sweet potato. When the food came out, I was shocked! How is there SOOOO much food for under $10? That is simple amaze balls. The roast beef was perfectly savory and tender. I loved the spicy gravy they put on top. I ordered dumplins as a side simply because I've never had them before. Sad to say, I am not a big fan of them. I was under the impression that they had fillings. But, no. They were just chunks of dough in chicken flavored gravy. The baked sweet potato was pretty darn delicious! It was filled with brown sugar, with a side of creamy butter. YUM! I ordered the fried apples in order to contrast the saltiness of my main course. However, I'm not a big fan of them. They were more soggy than I had anticipated. I'll definitely stick with cole slaw and mashed potatoes next time! The service here was wonderful. Every server was super attentive and friendly!

Cracker Barrel is a favorite place for breakfast in my family. Usually there is a wait on weekends for breakfast, but time can be passed by browsing through the country store. We were seated fairly quickly in spite of how crowded the place was. The servings are very generous. I love the hashbrown casserole. The breakfast menu has a lot of choices. The only thing that I didn't like was waiting to pay our check. I had to stand behind people who were buying things in the store and couldn't make up their mind about which knickknack to buy. I just wanted to pay my check and leave. There are 3-4 registers available. Make one available for people who simply want to pay for their meal.

I admit I've been here. A few times actually. BUT, NOT ONE of those was my idea. If we go out to lunch from my satellite office in New Stanton, the rule is it's driver's choice. I can assure you MY car has never been here! So, what to expect? Well, it's like Mayberry RFD on steroids. The "cute" country store atmosphere, the hokey feel good, good ole country boy, way things used to be kinda place. You feel like Jimmy Dean will be singing over the loudspeakers at any time. The rocking chairs lined up on the porch, the old timer candy counter, the "glad you're here" greetings...You get the idea. The food is unremarkable - faux home style. Made to replicate someone's idea of what mama would make you. You almost feel like someone is going to come out and check on you to make sure you licked your plate clean or needed another scoop of something. Yeah, meatloaf specials, lots of gravy on everything, that heart stopping, artery clogging home cooking that makes sure you're not gonna leave hungry. Uninspiring. I had enough of that as a little kid. Blah. And yet I understand the appeal. I can see how some might love this type of environment. A time machine back to the 50's. A wistful escape to a time when things were simpler. Not for me. You won't see my car in the parking lot. What you will see is a lot of 4 door trucks, RV's, and Buicks. That should tell you all you need to know.

It's standard fair for Cracker Barrell, Though you get alot of food. We had gone on a mid-afternoon on a Sunday after a day out and the wait was nearly an hour, partially to it being an interchange on the PA turnpike though. The food itself was alright, while I have no complaints, there wasn't much to brag about either. They do provide you with ALOT of food, and sides. I was disappointed when asking about the cucumber salad that it was prepackaged as is most of the food here.

Ordered the country fried steak. Worst I ever had looked and tasted like it was fried to death. My mash potatoes had no flavor. Only good think was the biscuit. My 7 year old wanted the kids shrimp. They had the tails on yet. He could of choked on them. The fruit they had looked fresh cut not canned. For my first time going here I won't be back.

This is really the only restaurant in New Stanton that I've ever been to. It's right off of I-70 near the PA Turnpike interchange. Sometimes when we want to take a ride in the country we'll head out here for breakfast or lunch. The food is good, solid Cracker Barrel fair, and we've never had a bad server. I always get a lot of sides and they're always good. Overall, it's pretty much like every other Cracker Barrel. I do want to give kudos to the staff because they've always been very attentive.

One of my worst experiences in this coast to coast chain. Food was old and cold. Blech. Definitely not worth even the low price tag of their dinners.

We actually ate lunch here today, and have been here many times. It was pretty crowded today, as usual, but we only had to wait about 20-25 minutes to be seated. The place was somewhat clean for how busy it was, and our server was spot on (quickly taking our order, refilling our drinks without us asking, delivering food quickly, friendly, etc). I had the grilled roast beef (one of my favorites), and my husband had the Chicken Dumplings (his favorite). The prices are right, and the service is usually good. There are also really neat items to look at in the country store, while you are waiting for your table. They had a lot of festive fall and Christmas themed items.

Although this place seems a bit old and dated, it is still a cute place. They could use some new tables and chairs, or something. I had the Sunday-only special Sunday Homestyle Chicken. It was fantastic! It was super moist and piping hot, with a super thick crunchy and flaky fried exterior. The sides are run-of the mill, but prepared well and served not too much and not too little. Our server was not a happy person, although she served us acceptably, (including numerous refills of my soda, as I am a big drinker), she wasn't very pleasant.

We had dinner there yesterday and everything was fine. Our roast turkey sandwiches came with a cup of soup (we chose the potato soup) and everything was delicious. When I lamented that our dinners didn't come with their legendary buttermilk biscuits, our server brought us each one. He was a great server; very friendly and attentive. I complimented the manager afterwards and he was also a really nice person. As always at Cracker Barrels, the prices were reasonable.
